Woman Shot, Killed at Waukegan House Party

A 24 year old woman was killed in a shooting after a fight broke out at a house party in Waukegan Monday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the 1600-block of 11th Street at about 4:30 a.m. and located the scene of the shooting, but no victim was found. Chopper 7HD flew over the scene as police blocked off the street and surrounded an SUV.

A hospital then alerted police that a gunshot victim was transported there and was pronounced dead.

Police said the victim is a 24-year-old woman. The Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death and her identity has not been released.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation at a house party. Police said it is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
