(WLS) Two people were wounded and two others injured after a shooting and crash on I-57 on the Far South Side Monday morning.
The Chicago Fire Department responded to the call of a shooting in the inbound lanes of I-57 at 115th Street at about 2:45 a.m.
Four people were hospitalized, two in critical condition and two in good condition, fire officials said.
A truck driver said he heard the shots on the interstate and then saw the car lose control and crash.
According to another witness, a black Dodge Charger sped away northbound on I-57. One man who heard the shots said he saw all four victims get out of the car injured.
“Two of the individuals seemed like they had gunshot wounds because of how they were grabbing their bodies. One had looked like he had maybe two shots the other one looked like he took about three and they ended up collapsing. The other people that were in the car with them ended up tending to them,” witness Kewan Watts said.
Illinois State Police shut down inbound lanes of I-57 from 119th to 111th streets to investigate the crash and reopened shortly before 7 a.m.
