Teen Shot in Bedroom, Struck by Stray Bullet

(WLS) A 17-year-old girl was shot early Friday morning in a bedroom on Chicago’s South Side.

Police said the bullet came from outside her home in the 7600-block of South Rhodes Avenue in the city’s Chatham neighborhood. She was in a rear bedroom when she suffered a gunshot wound to her lower back around 3:40 a.m.

The teen was transported to Stroger Hospital, where she is listed in serious condition.

A first responder also carried a small child out of the home and put the child into an ambulance. His or her possible injuries are unknown.

No one is in custody and the motive is unclear. The shooting remains under investigation.
