Melrose Park boy shot by GANG BANGERS over weekend dies

A 16-year-old boy who was shot last Friday night on the porch of his Melrose Park home has died, according to officials and family.

According to the Cook county medical examiner’s office Dawson Stephan was pronounced dead at 11:47 p.m.at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

The teen was shot in the head about 10:30 p.m. June 3 in the 1200 block of 34th Avenue when someone inside a white minivan drove up to the house and fired multiple shots into the backyard where Dawson and two other people were seated on a porch, police said. Dawson suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, according to police.

Melrose Park Chief of Police Sam Pitassi said Thursday the motive for the shooting was “absolutely” gang-related.

“This is an isolated incident, this house was not picked at random,” Pitassi said. “Everybody involved is a gang banger.”

The boy’s mother Michelle Stephan refuted the allegation and said gangs in the area have been bothering them and shooting at their house for the past three years.
