(WGN) A Cicero officer was wounded in a shooting in Chicago on Thursday, according to officials.
The officer was shot near Cicero Avenue and the entrance ramp to I-55 around 5 p.m. Thursday after a traffic stop in Chicago which led to a chase that ended in Cicero. Sources told WGN the officer was shot three times–in the arm and leg.
The officer will be going into surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital and is in good condition. The officer is reportedly alert and talking. A Cicero spokesperson initially said the officer was in serious condition.
The suspect in the shooting reportedly fled from police and was also shot. The suspect was taken to Stroger Hospital and is alert and talking to authorities.
Police from Cicero and Chicago remain on the scene. Traffic in the area is delayed and rerouted.
Cicero Avenue is closed in both directions at I-55.
