Driver Shot and Killed on Southbound I-55

(Tribune) A driver was shot and killed on the Stevenson Expressway on the Southwest Side of Chicago Thursday, according to the Illinois state police.

Keyon P. Berry, 30, was apparently shot while driving his blue Mercedes Benz between California and Kedzie avenues around 11:45 a.m., the state police said. He crashed into a concrete barrier at Kedzie.

Berry was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt.

The southbound lanes were closed for several hours, the state police said.

Anyone with any information about the incident was asked to call the state police at (847) 294-4400. Callers can remain anonymous, it said.

The Stevenson shooting was apparently not connected to a report of shots fired on I-80, also near Kedzie, about 2 p.m., officials said. No one was injured in that incident.
