Did you ever think you would become one of them?
“After looking in the mirror recently I realized I now have the same look in my own eyes as they do”.

Tonight I covered a shooting on the west side and was in the projects filming a gang member that was shot up pretty bad. As I walked back to my car about ¾ of the way down the block from the shooting scene, 5 gang members surrounded me and one of the men got right up in my face and told me, “he didn’t want me in his neighborhood filming his boy all shot up”.

I could tell as I looked into this guy’s eyes he was a hardcore gang member that was contemplating shooting me, as he said this to me, he was holding his waistband while the other 4 men stood watching. I stared at him for about 30 seconds and calmly moved in real close to him and said “then STOP killing each other and I won’t have to come here anymore and film it”. I then got in my car and drove off and went to the next shooting. I believe i didn’t get shot because our eyes were mirror images of each others. I guess i didn’t think about just how dangerous the city has become.

I Guess it was MY Lucky Day
