Chicago Violence Leaves 2 Dead and 14 wounded


Shootings left at least two men dead and 12 others wounded since Wednesday morning across the city, according to police.

A man was killed and another man was wounded in Logan Square, about 6 p.m., in the 3100 block of West Wabansia Avenue. A 25-year-old shot in the head and neck died at Stroger Hospital and another man, 22, is in stable condition with leg, lower back and shoulder wounds. They were in a car when someone on foot shot them and fled, police said.

The other man killed was shot about 5:10 p.m. A 22-year-old was shot to death in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. He was shot in the 1700 block of West 46th Street and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Most recently, a 32-year-old man was wounded in a shooting around 12:30 a.m. Thursday in the Little Village neighborhood on the West Side, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago police spokesman.

The man was in the 3100 block of West Cermak Road when he was shot in the left hand and left ankle. He was listed in good condition at St. Anthony Hospital, Zala said.

Early Thursday, police officers stretched yellow crime tape around three squad cars, enclosing a portion of the intersection of Cermak Road and Kedzie Avenue where several shell casings lay. Continue Reading
