Chicago shootings 3 dead, 10 wounded on Wednesday


Three people were killed and at least 10 other people have been shot since Wednesday evening on the South and West sides.

In the most recent fatal shooting, around 1:55 a.m. Thursday, a 45-year-old man was killed and a 33-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman were wounded in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

The two men and the woman were in a minivan, traveling north in the 8000 block of South Marshfield Avenue when it stopped at a stop sign. An attacker walked up to the minivan, yelled “hey” and started shooting, according to a police source. The gunman then ran away.

The minivan stopped at 78th and Marshfield, where ambulances responded.

The 45-year-old man was shot in the back and forearm. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and was later pronounced dead, police said.

The other man was shot in the right forearm and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized. The woman was struck in the hip and back, and she was also taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition stabilized, police said.

About 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, a 22-year-old man died after being shot in the head in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said. Continue Reading
