At least seven people were wounded in shootings citywide on Wednesday, including a man shot on Lake Shore Drive, according to police.
Late Wednesday night, authorities received multiple reports that people inside two vehicles on Lake Shore Drive were shooting at each other. At about 10:30 p.m., at least one of the vehicles crashed in the 500 block of North Lake Shore Drive, and the people inside ran away, according to law enforcement sources.
One of them, a 22-year-old man, was found about half a mile away near the intersection of Lower Randolph Street and Lake Shore Drive. He had a gunshot wound to his lower back, and was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. His condition was stabilized.
As of early Thursday, authorities did not have information about where exactly on Lake Shore Drive the man had been shot.
At 10:05 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot in the Marquette Park neighborhood. He was driving through an alley in the 6700 block of South Artesian Avenue when two people fired shots from a gangway, hitting him in the right shoulder and left hand.
