Just Home from Afghanistan only five months Willie Cook was gunned down while shielding his two-year-old son. On February 2nd 2013, Cook was shot and killed while in a car near his grandmother’s East Chicago house where he was taking his son for a visit. The veteran was found on top of his little boy, shielding him from the 15 bullets that were fired at his car. His son Antoine was hit; in the left leg another grazed his head and right leg he survived. Police believe Cook’s murder was a case of mistaken identity, possible retaliation for another shooting just day before.

This Saturday has been a very long day for the Chicago Police Homicide Unit, there are 6 on going murder investigations underway this evening, and this makes today the Bloodiest Day yet for the besieged city of Chicago. Earlier in the day the second double homicide occurred, a 16-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man were gunned down in the West Garfield Park neighborhood about 5 p.m., Chicago police spokesman said. Two more Bodies were found lying outside on the ground at the 4200 block of West Congress Parkway. No arrests have been made in any of the murders yet.
