Two people were killed and at least 22 others were wounded in weekend shootings in Chicago. Late Friday, three people were shot — one fatally — in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
WICKER PARK SHOOTING
On July 9th at around 3 a.m. Two men were shot in what appears to be a drive by gang shooting in Wicker Park’s bustling Milwaukee, Damen and North avenue bar district early Saturday, according to witnesses on the scene the shots came from a passing car on the Westside of the street.
According to the CPD the two men shot are documented gang members, their ages are 26 and 22, they were standing on the sidewalk on the 1500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when they heard gunfire and felt pain.
The 26-year-old was shot in the leg, and the 22-year-old suffered a graze wound to his left ankle. Both were taken away by ambulances to area hospitals and both are in stable condition.
The shooting occurred on the east corner of North. Milwaukee Ave, directly in front of the Flat Iron Building which is right next to the Tavern bar. At the time of the shooting the streets were packed with bar patrons the shocked on lookers couldn’t believe this was happening in what they considered to be a safe part of town. Area North detectives are investigating the shooter or shooters are still at large.

On Saturday June 12th Two men were shot in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. The two men ages 22 and 23 were both shot at around 11:45 p.m. in the 3600 block of South Indiana. The men were sitting in a parked car when someone walked up and pulled a gun and started shooting at them, many of the multiple shots fired hit both men and left the car riddled with bullet holes. The younger man suffered multiple gunshot wounds, while the older man was shot in the left arm, they drove to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, where their conditions were stabilized.

The two additional fatal shootings happened around the same time, 11 p.m. Monday: A 44-year-old man was killed in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side, and a 39-year-old man died in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the Far North Side.
Last year, 12 people were killed and 44 wounded over the holiday weekend. This weekend, 13 more people were shot, but six fewer people were killed.

On Saturday May 28thth at 9:30 pm a 23 year old man was shot walking on the 5100 block of Chicago Avenue, This shooting happened out in front of the Christ Outreach Deliverance Center on the corner of LeClair and Chicago Ave. According to the Chicago Police a light colored SUV pulled alongside of the man and a shooter fired shots at the man from the passenger seat of the vehicle one of the bullets struck the man in the right leg. The man was taken to Mount Sini Hospital in stable condition. The shooter or shooters are still at large.
On Sunday May 29th at around 2:00 am a 27-year-old man was shot in the 900 block of North Cambridge Avenue in the old Cabrini Green housing project on the Near North Side. Police taped off a parking lot between the low-rise project buildings and used empty small plastic cups to mark the location of shell casings. The man was listed in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The circumstances that led to the shooting are unclear at this time. The shooter or shooters are still at large.

On Sunday May 29th at about 12:20 a.m. a 37-year-old man was shot in the 4700 block of West Erie Street on Chicago’s Westside. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with wounds across his body. The man was shot on the other side of Cicero Avenue then the man ran across Cicero and collapsed in front of a house on Erie Street, the people that lived at the residence were having a party when the man showed up all shot up, he then collapsed from his wounds in front of their house. The residents feverishly applied towels and tried to stop the bleeding of his multiple wounds. Paramedics and police then showed up and worked on the man for some time as people desperately looked on; the man was taken away in critical condition by ambulance. The shooter or shooters are still at large.

On Saturday May 28th a group of well-dressed girls were driving home from a party when they encountered trouble on the 6800 block of south Winchester in the Englewood Neighborhood, that’s when gun fire erupted after another vehicle pulled alongside the car full of ladies and started firing into their vehicle. The gunman shot out the driver’s window and hit one of the female passengers in the neck. The other car then speed off and the ladies car eventually came to an abrupt stop at 68th and Ashland blocks away from the location where the shots were fired,, that’s when police were called and first responders showed up to treat the young ladies wound, she was taken away by ambulance in stable condition, the shooter or shooters are still at large.

On Friday May 20th around 9:50 p.m. a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were wounded in a Drive by shooting in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
The two were sitting in a parked vehicle at a gas station at Jackson and South Cicero Avenue when a black SUV pulled up boxed them in and someone inside began firing shots into their vehicle.
The man drove away from the shooting and drove down a couple of blocks to Adams and Cicero where he crashed head on into a pickup truck. A child was on the scene but it was not clear which vehicle the child was in.
The man was hit in the chest, and he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. The woman was shot in the lower left leg, and her condition was stabilized at Stroger. The shooter or shooters are still at large.

On Saturday May 7th around 1:00am a shots fired call was responded to by Chicago Police, the shots fired call identified the location as 61st and Paulina in the Englewood Neighborhood. When CPD was rolling into the scene they spotted two suspects fleeing the scene in their car when they turned onto 63rdand Ashland.
Police were able to intercept the two gang members and box them in, when suddenly they jumped out of their car and attempted to flee from police and ditch the gun or guns used in the shooting incident a couple blocks away. Police officers searched the area and recovered one gun from the area then both suspected shooters were arrested by Chicago Police.
On Saturday morning May 7th around 1:20 a.m., a 25-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were wounded in a shooting in the Lithuanian Plaza neighborhood on the South Side.
The two were leaving a party in the 6900 block of South Campbell Avenue when an unknown attacker ambushed them and started firing shots into their vehicle.
The man was shot in the hand. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
The woman was struck in the leg. She was in Holy Cross, where she was listed in good condition. The shooter or shooters are still at large.
