Three men were killed and eight other people were wounded in shootings since Thursday morning, Chicago police said.
A 28-year-old man was pronounced dead after a drive-by shooting Thursday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m., the victim was standing in the 1100 block of West 57th Street when a sedan pulled up and someone fired shots, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a police spokeswoman.
The man was struck in the head and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Tannehill said.
The most recent attack happened about 12:20 a.m. while a 23-year-old man was walking in the 5400 block of West West End Avenue in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said. An unknown man shot at the 23-year-old man, wounding him on the right hand. He took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
About 11:20 p.m. in the Belmont Gardens neighborhood on the Northwest Side, an 18-year-old woman was shot on the left forearm while she was walking with a male in the 3000 block of North Kostner Avenue, police said.
