7 Wounded in Chicago Shootings Tuesday

(Sun Times Wire) At least seven people were injured Tuesday in shootings across Chicago.

The latest shooting left a man critically wounded in Parkway Gardens on the South Side.

The man, 24, was shot in the abdomen about 9:37 p.m. in the 6300 block of South King Drive, Chicago police said. He was dropped off at the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was in critical condition.

Neither the victim nor witnesses on the scene were cooperating with officers, police said.

Earlier in the evening, a 33-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by in South Chicago.

He was standing outside about 8:45 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Essex Avenue when someone in a passing vehicle fired shots, police said.

The man was struck in the leg, and his condition was stabilized at the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

A 30-year-old man was shot in the chest about 20 minutes earlier.

He was shot about 8:24 p.m., police said. He was uncooperative with investigators and didn’t say where the incident happened.

The man was dropped off at Jackson Park Hospital and later transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

Earlier in the afternoon, a 25-year-old man was shot in Ashburn on the South Side.

He was standing on the sidewalk about 4:55 p.m. in the 2200 block of West 80th place when someone in a vehicle opened fire, police said. The man was struck in the back, and his condition was stabilized at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Two men were shot in Gresham about two hours earlier on the South Side.

Several people were sitting inside a vehicle when someone shot at them at 2:22 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 78th Street, according to police.

A 26-year-old man was shot in the left leg and taken to Holy Cross Hospital, police said. Another man, 20, was shot in the left leg and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. They were both stabilized.

In the day’s first shooting, an 18-year-old was wounded while driving in Fuller Park on the South Side.

He was driving at 12:18 p.m. when a white SUV started following him and someone inside shot at him in the 4200 block of South Wells Street, according to police. The man was struck in the right hand and drove himself to Rush University Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.

Monday’s shootings wounded three people in Chicago.
