(Fox) At least four people were killed and 22 others were wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday night.
The latest fatal shooting happened Sunday night in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side. A 58-year-old man was shot in the neck, stomach and back while walking about 10:50 p.m in the 8000 block of S. Michigan, according to Chicago Police. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition and was later pronounced dead.
About two hours earlier, a 6-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl were shot in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
The girls were in a vehicle being driven by a woman when another vehicle pulled up, exchanged words or gang signs with the driver, and fired shots about 9 p.m. in the 4700 block of West North Avenue, Chicago Police said. The 6-year-old girl was shot in the ankle and the 14-year-old girl was shot in the leg, police said. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
Another fatal shooting occurred on Sunday morning in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side. A 29-year-old man was shot in the head while walking about 3:40 a.m. in the first block of North Mayfield Avenue, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released details about the death.
A 27-year-old man was killed Saturday night in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. About 8:40 p.m., the man was shot multiple times in the upper body in the 1100 block of West 65th Street, according to police. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead. The medical examiner’s office has not released details about his death.
The weekend’s first fatal shooting happened within the same hour in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side. Jontae Hunt, 17, was shot in the hip about 8:20 p.m. in the 8600 block of South Michigan Avenue, police and the medical examiner’s office said. Hunt, who lived in the same neighborhood, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 9:32 p.m.
Early Monday, a man was shot while at a red light in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The 35-year-old man was stopped at the light when a vehicle pulled up next to him and someone inside fired shots, striking the man in the hand about 2:15 a.m. in the 3900 block of West Ogden, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition was stabilized.
On Sunday night, a 22-year-old man was injured in a drive-by shooting in the East Garfield neighborhood on the South Side. The man was a passenger in a vehicle when another vehicle pulled up and fired shots, striking him in the neck and chest about 9:50 p.m. in the 700 block of North Kedzie, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
About 20 minutes earlier, a 19-year-old woman was shot in Logan Square on the North Side.
The woman was a passenger in a vehicle when shots were fired from the street, striking her in the back, about 9:35 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Richmond, according to Chicago Police. She was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
Another person was shot earlier Sunday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side. About 1:35 p.m., a 45-year-old man was standing in the 4200 block of West Washington Boulevard when someone in a vehicle drove up and fired one shot before fleeing, police said. The victim was shot in the lower left leg and showed up at Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.
Only minutes earlier in the same neighborhood, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg at 1:28 p.m. in the 4200 block of West Jackson, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
