3 Wounded in Chicago Shootings Wednesday During Virus Lock-down

(Sun Times Wire) Three people were shot Wednesday in Chicago.

The day’s most recent shooting wounded a 19-year-old man in Belmont Gardens on the Northwest Side.

He was on the sidewalk about 6:32 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Wellington Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, Chicago police said.

The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition with a gunshot wound to the shin, police said.

About ten minutes prior, a woman shot someone who broke into her home in Gresham on the South Side, police said.

The 31-year-old was in a residence about 6:21 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Kerfoot Avenue when a male forced his way inside, police said.

The woman pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the person in the foot, police said. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.

Police said the woman has a valid concealed-carry license.

A man was wounded in a shooting in West Garfield Park.

The 21-year-old was on the sidewalk about 3:15 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Maypole Avenue when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said.

The man was struck in the waist and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Tuesday nine people were shot, two of them fatally, citywide.
