(Chicago Tribune) Three men were shot dead and three other people were wounded in attacks in Chicago between Thursday morning and early Friday, including a 16-year-old boy grazed in the head, Chicago police said.
Antonio Barrett, 30, was shot in the head about 4:45 p.m. Thursday, police said. He was on foot in the 1600 block of East 68th Street in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side when gunmen approached and fired shots, police said. He was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Barrett had lived less than a mile away, in the 1900 block of East 73rd Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at 6:53 p.m.
The other fatal attacks happened Thursday morning in the Lawndale and Greater Grand Crossing neighborhoods.
About 10:05 a.m. on the West Side, a person on a bicycle pulled a rifle from a backpack and fatally shot a 32-year-old man who was sitting in a vehicle in the 1300 block of South Troy Street. The man suffered a wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.
A 21-year-old man was shot to death by another man during an argument just after 9:15 a.m., police said. He was in the 200 block of West 69th Street when the gunman walked up and shot him in the chest and back. He was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.
• About 1:45 a.m. Friday on the Northwest Side, two teenagers suffered graze wounds in the 3600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue by Schurz High School in the Old Irving Park neighborhood, police said.
A 16-year-old told police he was riding in a car when someone fired shot at him, police said. He was driven to the 1100 block of North Christiana Avenue, near Division Street and Milwaukee, before someone called 911 and fire paramedics were dispatched. He was treated for a graze wound to the head at Stroger Hospital. An 18-year-old went in a private vehicle to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center with a graze wound to the arm, police said.
• About 5:05 p.m. on the West Side, a 22-year-old man was shot in the Austin neighborhood. That shooting happened in the 4800 block of West Gladys Avenue, police said. The victim was outside when he was shot in the shoulder. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
No one was in custody in any of the shootings.
