Three men were killed and at least 11 other people were wounded in Chicago shootings from Saturday morning to early Sunday, police said.
About 12:30 a.m. Sunday, a man was killed and two others were wounded in a shooting in Edgewater. The men, ages 27 and 32, were on the sidewalk in the 6300 block of North Broadway when someone fired shots from a dark-colored SUV.
The younger man was shot in the head and taken to Saint Francis Hospital in critical condition, where he later was pronounced dead. The older man was shot in the left leg and taken to the same hospital. His condition was stabilized.
Shortly afterward, at 1:10 a.m., a 22-year-old man got to Community First Hospital on the Northwest Side with a gunshot wound to the left side of the torso. Police initially said neither he nor witnesses could say where in the city he was shot, but it later was found that he also had been shot in Edgewater. The man was listed in critical condition and slated to be transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police near the corner of 95th and State streets heard gunfire and found a 36-year-old man in the driver’s seat of a black Yukon with gunshot wounds to the head, neck and chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene, on State Street between the Dan Ryan Expressway and Abbott Park.
About 5:45 a.m. Saturday, a 34-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were shot in the 500 block of East 75th Street about 5:45 a.m.
The man was driven by an acquaintance to St. Bernard Hospital with gunshot wounds to the head and shoulder. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
He was identified as Jarrod Johnson of the 200 block of West 110th Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The woman was shot in the abdomen and taken by ambulance to Stroger Hospital. Her condition was stabilized.
